Vincent Garbarino
Vincent grew up on his family’s southwest Louisiana rice farm. From an early age, he was drawn to science fiction and technology. As a farm boy, he developed a strong work ethic and interest in building and fixing things.
After college, he began a career as a programmer in the defense industry. For the past few decades, he’s been a program manager. While he enjoyed troubleshooting large programs, he missed the creativity of programming.
Keeping up with tech trends, he saw an opportunity. Writing digital apps, allows him to return to the creative process of programming and build something useful. He began learning iOS and set the date to begin coding. On that same day, Apple released Swift, their new iOS language. It was back to the drawing board for a few months, to get up to speed.
Inspiration for his first app, Got Time?, comes from seeing his sons wrestle with time managing their schoolwork with other activities. They wanted a quick way to know, “Do I have time to hang with friends?” Vincent wanted to offer a time management app with a unique focus – available free time.
Vincent lives in Florida with his wife, 3 sons and 2 dogs. He enjoys reading and owns thousands of sci-fi paperbacks. Although, now he prefers Kindle. He listens to EV, tech, and history podcasts while commuting. After a 30 year hiatus, he discovered natural running and ran his first 5K. When he’s not at his day job, he can be found at home working out, reading or spending time with family. He is a certified SCRUM Program Manager, AWS developer, and earned a B. S. in Mathematics from Louisiana State University. GEAUX Tigers!
